My wife and I recently saw Muriel Anderson in concert in Northern California. If you like music take a few minutes and check out her website. Several years ago we had her perform at our home for approximately 20 of our close friends and neighbors. It was quite awesome. We had dinner with her that night and I noticed that her footrest was made from wood. She wasn't real happy with it and I told her I would make one for her. Based on her feedback I will modify the design as necessary. The protype is made from some of the walnut purchased back in February during the great "Walnut Score" attended by many of the Woodnet Forum members.

UPDATE - 2/1/2004 - Muriel has just wrapped up her early 2004 tour in Southern California. She recently sent me an email with feedback after using her new footrest for the tour. Here is what she had to say:

Here are some pictures of a recent rest completed for a guitarist in Arkansas. In these photos you can see the velcro strap that locks the rest at the desired height. Here is what the recipient had to say after receiving the rest.

Here is the deal regarding footrest pricing. Muriel and I have discussed this at length and this is what it boils down to. I can't compete with the rests being mass produced overseas and sold on Ebay for $20. Those rests are made of lower quality lumber and stained to resemble cherry. I am a one man shop and all the rests are made as orders are placed. If you appreciate the beauty of wood and good craftsmanship then maybe one of my rests will interest you. Pricing is $60 which includes shipping and handling in the contiguous US. Rests are equipped with a velcro strap to hold it into position at the desired height as well as a piece of non-stick matt for those times when you may have to setup on a hardwood or tile floor/stage.

Current wood choices are Walnut or Cherry. Please allow 6 weeks for construction and delivery. I usually have the rests completed well before this but I have to cover myself because my day job takes me out of town, on occasion, for extended periods.
